WORDLE

After experimenting with wordle my opinion has changed regarding its place in the classroom. At first I was dismissive of its use, especially within highschool classrooms, but when one understands that it really isn't intended to be much more than a very quick way of graphically representing a brainstorming session or the like it is a great tool. The above wordle took me all of 30seconds and shows the words I entered more often larger, in effect giving the more popular ideas greater prominence. Simple yet effective this tool can help set the direction for group projects and other tasks. This a tool I would be inclined to use as a very quick introductory tool and as something that the class can continually refer back to. Another suggestion is to create one at the start of the task and another at the end to visually demonstrate the change or development in an individuals, or groups thinking. Fore example, if a teacher was to ask a class the most important graduate attributes, after researching and completeing classwork they may give greater prominence to different attributes.
